CSRD still needing public feedback for public waste management

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District is still requesting public feedback on its draft Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) for garbage, recycling and waste reduction.

“Waste isn’t free. Every item discarded carries a cost – from the resources used to make the item, to handling, processing and its environmental impact,” Ben Van Nostrand, General Manager, Environmental and Utility Services said in the release.

The CSRD said the plan will help make smarter decisions to protect the environment, meet provincial requirements and to secure future infrastructure.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy requires all regional districts to regularly update their solid waste management plans in accordance with provincial guidelines and best practices.

Locals from Revelstoke and Golden have the chance to share their feedback through an online survey.

Residents who complete the survey could have the chance to win a $100 gift card to a local restaurant. The survey will close on Oct. 31, 2025.

Survey links are available for:

For residents of Golden and Area A
