Golden student named Neil Muth scholarship recipient

A golden resident is one of three recipients of this year’s Neil Muth Memorial Scholarship.

Talus Josephson will receive a portion of $10,000.

The scholarship was launched in 2017 to honour former Columbia Basin trust CEO Neil Muth.

It supports students who have demonstrated perseverance in the face of adversity.

“Even in the face of overwhelming challenge and hardship, these individuals have continued to believe in themselves and the potential for a better future,” said Cathy Muth, Neil’s wife.

“I would like to sincerely thank the Muth family and Columbia Basin Trust for choosing me as a recipient for this award, and for making this scholarship possible. Financial struggle is often closely tied to childhood adversity, so supporting students who are working to overcome these barriers and break family cycles can have impacts far beyond easing financial pressures,” he said.

“For me, this scholarship helps cover the costs of studying and living away from home and allows me to continue pursuing my degree, with the goal of building a more stable future for the next generation of my family.”

Stefanie Soukeroff of Castlegar and Jasmine Burrows of South Slocan are the two other recipients.
