Deja vu for Golden speeder

A driver pulled over near Golden tried blaming his vehicle before getting his second impound for excessive speeding.

A 59-year-old Vernon Man was driving a souped-up Dodge Challenger Hemi R/T and was caught going 151 km/h in a 100 zone.

He had previously lost the same vehicle in June 2025 to an excessive speed impoundment, but offered an excuse to the officer.

“The driver of the Dodge Challenger said his car was ‘too fast,’ but our officer pointed out that there are two pedals,” said Sergeant Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol.

“We’d like to invite all drivers to experiment with using the ‘go fast’ pedal a little less.”

The driver was issued an excessive speed fine, tinted windows fine, the cost of a tow truck and a seven day impound.

“We stop drivers of all ages who are speeding excessively,” says Sergeant McLaughlin, “but arguably, drivers of this age should really know better.”
