McInnis wins re-election in Columbia River-Revelstoke

BC Conservative Scott McInnis is back as MLA for Columbia River-Revelstoke following the 2026 BC Election.

“It’s pretty humbling, to be honest with you. You never know going into an election what the results are going to be,” he said.

“I’m just very grateful and humbled that the people of Columbia River-Revelstoke have selected me once again to be their voice in Victoria for the very important issues that matter to them.”

The BC Conservatives were also big winners on Saturday securing a sizable majority government.

McInnis said he expected the outcome, but now they have to get to work and make good on their promises.

“I was pretty confident that the conservative party was going to win the election, but I certainly didn’t have a line of sights on what is a pretty substantial majority,” he added.

“It’s obviously very rewarding and gratifying that the people of British Columbia have put their faith into us, but it’s also a tremendous responsibility. We have a lot of work to do ahead of us here to prove to British Columbians that yes, we were the correct choice all along, and we’re going to make quality of life better for everybody in this province and provide a little more hope and prosperity to the young people that live here.”

While there are larger issues he said he will help tackle for the riding, McInnis said his first priority is a little smaller scale, but important for constituents.

“Unfortunately with the snap election, we had a lot of files open for people that really needed help. As soon as I can I’m circling back to those open files and making sure that people are getting the local assistance that they need, whether it’s finding a place to live or access to treatment for oncology. Whatever their issue may be, he added.

“We just want to make sure that we’re serving the people that are kind of left floating out there.”

McInnis also wanted to extend his thanks to his opponents for stepping forward and running in the election.

“I really wanted to thank Andrea Dunlop and Rana Nelson for running great campaigns and putting themselves out there as candidates,” he said.

“Campaigning is very difficult and I really appreciate them putting their names forward and running really professional campaigns. I want to tip my hat to them.”

McInnis received 52.5 per cent of the vote with a total of 8,893 votes.

Dunlop of the BC NDP was second with 6,101 votes and 36 per cent, while Rana Nelson of the Greens came away with 1,942 votes and 11.5 per cent.
