A very new council for Golden sworn in

Golden’s council had a large turnover this election, but the new group is ready for the task.

The only returning member is former mayor Ron Oszust who is back as a councillor this term.

Mayor Kristi Cooper said it’s a good group that can learn the ropes together.

“As we settle into our new roles, there are learning opportunities for all of us,” she said.

“We all don’t have the answers, but together we have a wealth of experience, ideas and perspectives. If we remain open to learning from one another, our collective wisdom will always be greater then any one voice.”

She said there will be some important decisions in the future and this council is ready to tackle them.

“I feel incredibly grateful for the confidence the residents have placed in us and I’m excited for the work we have ahead,” she added.

“Over the upcoming years we will face some important decisions that will help shape our town’s future. I believe we are entering this team with energy, enthusiasm and a shared commitment to listening, learning and serving our community.”

She is joined by councillors Stuart Angus, Ron Oszust, Janet Crandall, Justin Baun, David Ratzlaff and Calvin Beauchesne.
