Heavy rain causes local trail to close indefinitely

Atmospheric rivers last week have forced the closure of the Revelstoke Trail in Mount Revelstoke National Park.

Parks Canada said in a statement this morning that the trail, which begins behind the Revelstoke Railway Museum, has sustained extensive damage.

“Unstable slopes, undercut banks, and deep erosion will require major repair,” the statement said.

The agency said the trail is not safe in its current condition and is therefore closed by superintendent’s order from the Trans-Canada Highway to the Beaver Lodge Bike Park and Nels Nelsen parking area until further notice.
