Drivers may see smoke near Mount Revelstoke today as Parks Canada crews begin pile burning.
Smoke from pile burning on the lower slopes of Mount Revelstoke may be visible from the Trans-Canada Highway and the City of Revelstoke.
Officials said the burning is a necessary step to maintain the fuel break on the lower slopes of Mount Revelstoke, helping reduce wildfire risk to the community and popular areas in the park.
If weather permits, the work will continue through the coming weeks. No trail or visitor facility closures are planned.
